Denny Villere CentolaThe Divine Denise Villere Centola (3/8/1950-11/1/2006)

Denny Villere Centola was the Divine Designer. Denny was a founding member of the Divine Protectors of Endangered Pleasures, also known as the DIVAs. Denny may have enjoyed our annual Mardi Gras luncheon and promenade more than anyone. She was a wonderful artist. Along with many creations, she created the DIVA bustier Mardi Gras beads. She is the first of the group who has passed away, but surely that has not stopped her from Protecting Endangered Pleasures, and doing it Divinely. Look for her on DIVA Day “up there,” holding court and giving audiences.

Denny’s daughters, Denise and Deborah, were DIVAs with Denny, and they and their mother came up with incredibly detailed, lovely beaded bustiers every year. Her son Larry married Amy Henry, who also made fabulous beaded bustiers and promenaded with the DIVAs and Denny. Amy and Larry also made two petite DIVAs, Lily and Lulu. Denise has now formed the Persephone's Dragonflies , another organization dedicated to beauty and fun, celebrating its inaugural year 2009. The group’s name honors Denny’s great love of dragon flies.

Denny was married to Larry Centola, a man of great taste and kindness. She was the daughter of Edward and Denise Villere, sister of Eddie, Donald, Ronald and Keith Villere, former mayor of Covington and current mayor of Elvi. She was the sister-in-law and beloved friend of Carol Miles, the Divine Instigator, who along with the Divine Designer, determined that life’s pleasures were endangered to the point of needing an organized group of goddesses dedicated to protecting them.
