Brunner Gallery

Covington 215 North Columbia Street

 August 8 – August 22, 2009

Opening Reception: Sat  Aug 8, 6pm – 8pm

Brunner Gallery hosts the annual cultural exhibition of beaded bustiers designed and created by The Divine Protectors of Endangered Pleasures, a women’s group working collaboratively throughout the year in beading circles to create one of a kind contemporary corsets inspired by themes from literature, history,  music, folk narratives, film and popular culture.  In the spirit of the great carnival  traditions of Louisiana, the creations are featured on the Friday before Mardi Gras in a promenade through the French Quarter accompanied by the rhythms of a jazz band.  Mid year, the costumes are displayed in Brunner Gallery for two weeks.  Due to the popularity of the exhibition, the opening reception will be held on Saturday, August 8 from 6 – 8 pm during the coordinated gallery openings in downtown Covington. Look for solo and group displays in venues up and down Columbia Street in the windows and in front of businesses on that street, an exciting addtion to the 2009 festivities.
